Gold prices have dropped again in the domestic market. As per the new decision, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has set the price of 22-carat gold at BDT 235,963 per Bhori, a reduction of BDT 2,158. This new price became effective from 10:00 AM on Wednesday (May 20).

BAJUS stated in its announcement that the new gold prices have been determined considering the overall situation, particularly due to a decrease in the price of unrefined gold (pure gold) in the local market.

According to the new price list:

    • 22-carat per Bhori: BDT 235,963
    • 21-carat per Bhori: BDT 225,232
    • 18-carat per Bhori: BDT 193,039
    • Traditional method gold per Bhori: BDT 157,231

Prior to this, BAJUS had last reduced gold prices on May 16. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold per Bhori was set at BDT 238,121, following a reduction of BDT 4,374.

So far this year, gold prices in the country have been adjusted 66 times. Of these, prices increased 35 times and decreased 31 times.

On the other hand, silver prices have been kept unchanged. Currently:

    • 22-carat silver per Bhori: BDT 5,657
    • 21-carat: BDT 5,365
    • 18-carat: BDT 4,607
    • Traditional method silver per Bhori: BDT 3,441

So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 39 times. Of these, prices increased 21 times and decreased 18 times.
