Health Minister Sardar Saquawat Hossain Bakul has warned of strict action against those responsible for the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Din Hospital in Magbazar, the capital.

He issued the warning on Wednesday afternoon while responding to a journalist’s question after inspecting Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in Kishoreganj.

The Health Minister stated that six lives were lost due to the negligence of the hospital authorities in Magbazar. A committee has already been formed to investigate the matter, and appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.

Earlier, the Health Minister made unannounced visits to various hospitals in Kishoreganj. At Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in the afternoon, he inspected medical services, ward conditions, and the quality of patient meals. He also spoke with patients and their relatives to inquire about the healthcare system.

Present at the time were Kishoreganj-1 Member of Parliament Mazharul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Sohana Nasrin, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, District Council Administrator Khaled Saifullah Sohel, and Hospital Director Dr. Saiful Islam, along with local administration officials and leaders of various front and associate organizations of BNP.

Earlier in the morning, the Minister visited Pakundia and Hossenpur Upazila Health Complexes. He then returned to Dhaka after inspecting Katiadi Upazila Health Complex.
