Electricity prices have been increased once again in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new wholesale and retail electricity tariffs on Wednesday. According to the new declaration, electricity prices have been hiked by 19.85 percent at the wholesale level and by 16.68 percent at the consumer level.
Sources from BERC indicate that the decision to adjust prices was made due to an increase in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution costs. With the new tariffs coming into effect, all types of consumers, including residential, commercial, and industrial, will be required to pay more for electricity than before.
