Bangladesh received USD 2.177 billion in remittances during the first 17 days of May. This translates to an average daily inflow of approximately USD 128.1 million.

Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, confirmed this information on Monday.

He stated that the country’s remittance inflow for the first 17 days of May stood at USD 2.177 billion, significantly higher than the USD 1.61 billion received during the same period last year, indicating a robust year-on-year growth in remittance flow.

From July of the current fiscal year up to May 17, Bangladesh has accumulated USD 31.51 billion in remittances, marking a 20.50 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Previously, the country recorded USD 3.1273 billion in remittances in April. In March, remittances reached USD 3.75505 billion, setting a new record as the highest single-month remittance inflow in the country’s history.
