Two regional executive officers of Dhaka North and South City Corporations have been temporarily suspended on charges of negligence in their duties regarding Qurbani waste removal in the capital. At the same time, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has instructed departmental action against them.

The directive for the temporary suspension of the two officials was issued on Friday afternoon, entrusting the Ministry of Public Administration. The matter was confirmed to the media by State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam.

The temporarily suspended officials are — Md. Sadekur Rahman, Regional Executive Officer of Zone-5 of Dhaka North City Corporation, and Kazi Saleh Mustanzir, Regional Executive Officer of Zone-1 of Dhaka South City Corporation. Both of them hold the rank of Deputy Secretary.

It is known that from 2 PM to 6 PM on Friday, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman drove himself without protocol, inspecting various development projects and Qurbani waste management activities in different areas of the capital.

During the inspection, Qurbani waste along with old garbage was seen lying on the streets in Hatirpool, Elephant Road, Green Road, Farmgate, and Karwan Bazar areas. The Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction upon seeing the unhygienic environment in these important areas and ordered action against those responsible.

Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony stated that State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam was present with the Prime Minister during this time. Additionally, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation Md. Abdus Salam, BNP National Executive Committee Special Editor Muhammad Belayet Hossain Mirda, and Prime Minister’s Private Secretary-2 Advocate Mehedul Islam were present as companions.
