Following a continuous seven-day government holiday for the holy Eid al-Adha, regular operations of government and private offices, courts, banks, insurance companies, and the stock market resumed today, Monday (June 1).

The government holiday for Eid was observed from May 25 to May 31. After a long break, officials and employees of government and private institutions are returning to their workplaces from today, leading to a renewed sense of activity across the capital and the entire country.

However, during the holiday period, various essential services such as electricity, gas, water and other fuel supplies, fire services, sanitation activities, telecommunications, internet services, and postal services remained operational. Hospitals and emergency healthcare services also continued. Staff involved in the transportation of medicines and medical equipment also performed their duties without interruption.

Banking operations are also being conducted normally from today. Customers can perform banking transactions from 10 AM to 3 PM. However, bank office hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Insurance institutions will also operate on the same schedule.

Meanwhile, after the Eid holiday, normal trading has resumed today in the country’s two stock markets—Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). Share market trading will continue from 10 AM to 2:30 PM, while the office operations of both stock exchanges will run from 9 AM to 4 PM.
